Dave Grusin

An acclaimed composer of television and film soundtracks, Dave Grusin has won 12 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for his work on movies such as The Fabulous Baker Boys, The Milagro Beanfield War and Mood Indigo. Born to musical parents, Grusin studied classical piano at the University of Colorado before becoming assistant music director for Andy Williams and scoring the soundtrack to the 1967 comedy movie Divorce American Style. It led to a long and esteemed career in the film business that has seen him create the scores for The Graduate, The Firm, Tequila Sunrise, The Goonies and The Champ; and lend his arrangements to Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Quincy Jones, Sergio Mendes and Patti Austin. A co-founder of the label GPR Records, Grusin has recorded tribute albums to his heroes George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and Henry Mancini with big band orchestras and dabbled with jazz, classical and lounge styles on his own original albums Night-Lines (1984), Harlequin (1986) and Sticks and Stones (1987).
