Hard rock band Daughtry was formed by formerAmerican Idol contestant Chris Daughtry in 2006, following his fourth-place finish on the fifth season ofIdol. Based in McLeansville, North Carolina, the band debuted with"It's Not Over", which reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on Adult Pop Airplay. The following single,"Home", also topped the Adult Pop Airplay chart. Both singles appeared on the band's self-titled debut album, Daughtry, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 and went six times platinum. The following album, Leave This Town, was released in 2009 and also reached number one in the USA. Break the Spell (2011), Baptized (2013) and Cage to Rattle (2018) also reached the Top 10. Cage to Rattle marked the end of Daughtry's presence on a major label roster, however, and the band returned in 2021 with an independent album entitled Dearly Beloved. A cover of the Journey classic"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" (featuring vocals by Halestorm's Lzzy Hale) brought the band back into the Billboard charts in 2023, the song reaching number five on the Mainstream Rock chart. Another non-album single,"Artificial", was released the same summer and reached number 31. In 2024, the band took a more radical sonic turn with the singles "Pieces", "Nervous " and "The Reckoning", which joined the Shock to the System (Part One) EP, followed in 2025 by Shock to the System (Part Two).
