Daniel Calderón

Daniel Alexander Calderón Pulgarín, born on August 6, 1984 in Medellín and son of famed producer Iván Calderón, grew up immersed in vallenato music, recording his first song, “Obsesión,” at age four. He officially joined his father’s ensemble, later renamed Daniel Calderón y Los Gigantes del Vallenato, launching his solo career with the 2003 album Los Gigantes son los Gigantes, followed by Aire Fresco (2005), Así Somos (2007)—featuring hits like “Quién Eres Tú,” “Aventura,” and “Duele”—and Vía Libre (2009) with acclaimed songs such as “Qué Le Diré al Corazón.” His 2011 release Alto Voltaje, which included the popular single “La Señal,” helped earn him the title of Artist Vallenato of the Year at the Nuestra Tierra Awards. In 2015, De Sur a Norte spawned the hit “No y No,” and his later works—Peligroso (2017), Más Gigantes Que Nunca (2022), and the dual Dos Épocas editions (2023)—demonstrated his evolving artistry. In 2024, he celebrated two decades in music with the compilation 20 Años de Carrera Musical, and in 2025 released the reflective album Conexión, produced in collaboration with notable accordionist Alvin Anaya “Mafia” and featuring the emotionally resonant single “Dos Horas.”
