Cry Before Dawn, a four-piece rock band from Wexford, Ireland, formed in 1986. The group consisted of Brendan Wade on vocals and acoustic guitar, Vince Doyle on bass guitar, Pat Hayes on drums and percussion, and Tony Hall on electric and acoustic guitars. Cry Before Dawn gained initial attention with their debut album Crimes of Conscience, released in August 1987 on the Epic/CBS label. The lead single from this album was "Gone Forever", which was released in Ireland in February 1987 and re-released in both Ireland and the UK in 1988. Cry Before Dawn won the 'Best Newcomer' award at the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) awards in 1987 and were awarded best Irish group at the IRMA awards in 1989. Their second album, Witness for the World, was released in May 2008. The band toured extensively, supporting acts like Big Country on their 1989 UK Peace in Our Time tour. After parting with their record company, Cry Before Dawn disbanded briefly before reforming with new members Paul Spencer and Steve Belton replacing Tony Hall on guitar. They released a single "To Be True" in 1992 before splitting again. The band reformed in November 2010 and issued a limited edition double album Live at the Wexford Opera House in December 2012, produced by Steve Belton. In 2025 followed the EP Open Water.
