Contracorriente

Formed in Lima, Peru, in 1995, Contracorriente emerged as a dynamic force in the Latin American rock scene, blending punk roots with heavy metal and hard rock influences. Their self-titled debut album, Contracorriente, released in 2001, marked the beginning of a prolific discography, followed by the live album Contra Todo (2003), Honor y Rebeldía (2004), and Conectado (2005). In 2006, they chronicled their journey and the evolution of the Peruvian rock scene in the documentary DVD 1995–2005. Their 2013 album Contra el Tiempo received critical acclaim, with singles like "Aniquilar" and "Necesitado" gaining rotation on MTV Latin America. Contracorriente has performed extensively across Peru and internationally, sharing stages with renowned acts such as Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, The Scorpions, Alice in Chains, The Offspring, Sepultura, and Ice Cube. A significant milestone was their participation in the White Nights of St. Petersburg festival, where they won the Grand Prix Prize, performing before over 18,000 attendees and a global television audience. This achievement led to their designation as official representatives of "Marca Perú" by the Peruvian government.
