Comet Gain, a British indie pop band, was formed in Oxford, England in 1992 by David Christian. The group released their first vinyl tracks on the double-7-inch EP Some Hearts Paid To Lie in 1993 and debut album Casino Classics in May 1995 under Wiiija Records. In 1997, Comet Gain disbanded due to artistic differences, but David Christian continued with new members. Their second album, Tigertown Pictures, was released in September 1999 on KRS Records. Notable albums include Magnetic Poetry (July 2001), Réalistes and Broken Record Prayers (both October 2008), and Howl of the Lonely Crowd (June 2011). Comet Gain's music spanned various styles, from indie-pop to garage-punk. Notable singles include "Strength" (February 1997) and "An Arcade from the Warm Rain That Falls" (September 2011). In 2014, the band released Paperback Ghosts, featuring an emphasis on ballads and orchestration. They followed with several albums, include Fireraisers Forever! (2019), The Ballad of Charlie Damage (2024), Return to Tigertown (2024), Wintertime Ghosts (2024), and Letters to Ordinary Outsiders (2025).
