French duo formed in 2006, Cocoon is made up of guitarist, composer and producer Mark Daumail and singer/pianist Morgane Imbeaud. Singing in English in a delicate folk-pop style, Cocoon's debut album My Friends All Died in a Plane Crash (2007) was well received by the critics. It took less than a year for them to become a welcome surprise on the French folk scene, on a par with the likes of Hey Hey My My and Stuck in the Sound. In 2010, their more conceptual second album Where the Ocean Ends continues in this intimate vein. We had to wait six years for another taste of Cocoon's gentle folk-pop, which then became a solo project with the departure of Morgane Imbeaud for a solo career. Mark Daumail continued on his own, injecting a dose of soul into the musical universe of his new project, Welcome Home (2016). Three years later, Wood Fire was recorded between Los Angeles, Tel Aviv, Norway, Italy and France (in Bordeaux and Paris). The first single release, "Back to One", features Clou as lead singer, while "I Got You" is performed by Israeli band Lola Marsh. After the release of the single "The Road", specially conceived for the video game Road 96 in 2021, Cocoon records three EPs in a row, Question Mark (2023), then Beautiful Thingz and Human Race in 2025, as a prelude to the album What We Leave Behind, released the same year.
