Claudio Capéo, whose real name is Claudio Ruccolo, was born into a family with Italian roots in Cernay (Haut-Rhin) on January 10, 1985. After learning to play his favorite instrument, the accordion, at the age of six, the young musician went on to take part in competitions until his teens, when his musical tastes led him to play in a heavy metal band. While his studies led him to the profession of carpenter-decorator, his passion for music remained. He took up the accordion again to play in a band, and recorded two self-produced albums, El Vagabond (2010) and Claudio Capéo & Miss Mondo (2012), both of which attracted small audiences. After a series of supporting gigs with groups such as Tryo, Boulevard des Airs and Fréro Delavega, he entered the fifth edition of the TV show The Voice, la Plus Belle Voix. The singer stands out for his distinctive vocal timbre, his dexterity as an instrumentalist and, above all, his choice of covers. His rendition of Michel Delpech's "Chez Laurette" made a lasting impression. In 2016, he produced the single "Un homme debout", about a homeless man. The track goes straight into the best-seller charts, reaching number six. Shortly afterwards, he released a new, untitled album with wider distribution, reviving the tradition of chanson réaliste. This album, rewarded with a diamond disc and a number one sales position, was a major success of the year. In 2017, Claudio Capéo took part in Kids United's third album, Forever United, with his cover of Yves Duteil's "Prendre un enfant par la main". He then duets with Vitaa on "Un peu de rêve", before unveiling "Ta main", the first single from his fourth album Tant Que Rien Ne M'Arrête (2018), featuring duets with Kendji Girac ("Que Dieu me pardonne") and Scotland's Tom Walker on the title track. The following year, the singer joined the Les Enfoirés tour. In 2020, he presented his new song, "E Penso a Te", the first single from the album Penso a Te, featuring covers of Italian hits and contributions from Gianna Nannini and Davide Esposito, at the Théâtre Antique d'Orange. In 2022, he presented a new studio album, Rose des Vents, on which he had worked with the musicians from his first album, and which dwelt on a theme he had rarely touched on before: love. It is promoted by the single "Tour de France" and features a collaboration with Slimane, "Chez toi".
