Born in Aix-en-Provence in 1961, harpsichordist and conductor Christophe Rousset founded the ensemble Les Talens Lyriques in 1991. His recordings of Bach, Couperin, Lully and Handel have earned him international critical acclaim, as have his discoveries of forgotten works. In addition to the success of the music for the film Farinelli, which he coordinated in 1994, Christophe Rousset has been hailed for his direction of Mozart's opera Mitridate and his interpretation of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater . He holds the insignia of chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, commandeur des Arts et des Lettres and chevalier de l'ordre national du Mérite.
