Gaetano Cristiano Vincenzo Rossi, known professionally as Christian, was born on September 8, 1943, in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. Initially a footballer for Palermo and Mantova FC, Rossi's career took a turn due to a heart condition, leading him to pursue music in the early 1970s. His breakthrough came in 1980 with the single "Daniela", which reached seventh place on the Italian hit parade. Often compared to Julio Iglesias for his similar musical style and shared authors, Christian achieved significant success between 1982 and 1984, placing four singles at number one on the Italian charts. He participated in the Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo from 1982 to 1990, notably securing third place in 1984 with "Cara". Throughout his career, Christian released numerous albums, including Piccola incosciente (1977), Un'altra vita un altro amore (1982), and Christian The Best of (2015). He married singer Dora Moroni in 1987; the couple divorced in 1997. Rossi died from an intracerebral haemorrhage on September 26, 2025, at the age of 82.
