Cherry

Geraldine Ahava, known professionally as Cherry, was born on 30 May 1993 in Mexico City, Mexico, and pursued a career as a singer. She began performing at age five, studying ballet at the Royal Academy of Dancing and vocal composition with several teachers, while also learning piano, guitar, modeling, and acting. Her early exposure included commercial work and stage roles such as Coppelia and El Cascanueces, and she gained public attention in 2005 through a modeling campaign that introduced her as a solo artist under the name Gery Ahava. Cherry’s breakthrough came with the release of her debut single "Loca loca" in 2009, which entered the top twenty most‑played tracks in Mexico. Her first studio album, Xoxo, followed in November 2009, featuring fifteen tracks and establishing her presence in the Latin pop market. The single "Maquillaje" achieved a peak position of number 10 on the Monitor Latino Pop Chart, marking a notable achievement for an independent artist. She continued to expand her repertoire with the 2018 single "Con un beso" exploring urban pop influences. Throughout her career, Cherry received nominations at the 2010 Premios Orgullosamente Latino for Best Latin Solo Artist and Best Latin Song, reflecting her growing influence within the genre.
