Consuelo Pérez Rubio, known professionally as Chelo, and born on January 18, 1944, in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, is a singer-songwriter and actress. She began her music career as a vocalist for the cumbia group Chelo y su Conjunto before transitioning to a solo career focused on ranchera music and acting. Her musical inspiration came from José Alfredo Jiménez, whose ranchera hits she frequently performed. She achieved significant success with hit songs like "Mejor Me Voy", "Que Sacrificio", and "Volverás Por Mi" which reached Number 1 on Billboard's Mexican Top 10 list. Chelo also ventured into acting, appearing in 13 movies alongside her daughter Yesenia Flores. Throughout her career, she recorded 62 albums with Musart Records and performed internationally, including a notable concert in Stockton, California, in 2006, where over 30,000 fans attended.
