Cheema Y

Cheema Y is a Punjabi rapper and singer-songwriter based in Canada, known for a close creative partnership with producer Gur Sidhu. After moving from India to Canada for studies, he began releasing music in 2020 and developed a style built around Punjabi street rap, hip-hop beats and direct, youth-focused writing. His wider catalog took shape in 2023 with ANYWAY, a collaborative album with Gur Sidhu released through Brown Town Music, followed the same year by the EP Dripster, which included “The Beast.” In 2024, Cheema Y and Gur Sidhu released the dance-friendly EP Cloud 9, alongside singles such as “Trump,” “Snake” and “Not Sure.” The pair returned in 2025 with Young G.O.A.T, an 11-track album featuring “Police,” “Takde Gharde,” “Away” and the title track “Young G.O.A.T.” Later that year, Cheema Y released The Simpsons, which included “Tutor,” one of his most visible songs. In 2026, he reunited with Gur Sidhu for Bermuda Triangle, an eight-track album shaped by dark trap beats and assertive Punjabi rap, with “Rebel,” “Money 2X,” “Cartel,” “Jackpot,” “Komagata Maru” and “CEO” among its key tracks. Shortly after its release, the LP peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Canada Albums Chart.
