American sludge metal and noise rock band, Chat Pile takes its name from the mountains of lead-contaminated mining waste that can be found along the roads of Oklahoma. Formed in Oklahoma City in 2019, it features vocalist Randy Heyer aka Raygun Busch, guitarist Luther Manhole and the Tackett brothers, Austin aka Stin on bass and Aaron aka Cap'n'Ron on drums. After a well-received debut EP entitled This Dungeon Earth and the follow-up Remove Your Skin in the same year, Chat Pile signed to The Flenser label, which began by releasing their Sepultura cover, "Roots Bloody Roots", before unveiling the album God's Country in 2022, which received critical acclaim and featured on the year-end lists. Contacted to compose the soundtrack for the experimental film Tenkiller (2022), the band set off on a European tour to promote their album and recent EP Brothers in Christ (2023). Back in the studio, they set about recording their second album Cool World (2024), named after a 1992 animated film. A concert on the 2023 tour resulted in the first live album Live at Roadburn 2023, released in April 2025, while Chat Pile collaborated with primitivist guitarist Hayden Pedigo on the album In the Earth Again, released in October.
