Chas & Dave

Chas & Dave, an English pop-rock duo composed of Charles Nicholas "Chas" Hodges and David Victor "Dave" Peacock, originated in London. The duo began their musical journey together in 1972 after first meeting in 1963. Originally part of various groups throughout the 1960s and 1970s, they later joined forces to form Chas & Dave following a period as session musicians and backing band members. Their breakthrough came with their first single "Gertcha", released in 1979, which peaked at number 20 on the UK Singles Chart. Chas & Dave gained significant attention for creating the so-called 'rockney' style; a mixture of pub singalong, music-hall humour, boogie-woogie piano, and pre-Beatles rock 'n' roll. They released their debut album One Fing 'N' Anuvver in 1975, followed by Rockney in 1978 under EMI Records. Their most successful period was the early 1980s, highlighted by hits like "Rabbit" and "Ain't No Pleasing You". Collaborations with Tottenham Hotspur also marked their career, including songs like "Ossie's Dream" / "Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur". The duo's final studio album That's What Happens arrived in October 2013.
