Charlie Parr is an American country blues musician born on January 1, 1967, in Austin, Minnesota. Influenced by artists such as Charlie Patton and Mississippi John Hurt, he began his recording career in 2002 with the albums Criminals & Sinners and 1922. He achieved international prominence when the track â1922â was featured in a Vodafone television advertisement, leading to an Australian tour with Paul Kelly in 2009. His music appeared in the 2010 film Red Hill, which featured the track âJust Like Todayâ. Parr followed these successes with albums including King Earl and the 2010 release When the Devil Goes Blind. In 2024, his hero "Spider" John Koerner gave Parr his twelve-string Gretsch guitar to use in performances shortly before Koerner's death. Parr released the studio album Little Sun in 2024 through Smithsonian Folkways Recordings.
