Catherine Wong In, born on 4 April 1992 in Hong Kong, emerged from a background that combined a university education in journalism with self‑taught guitar skills and street‑performance experience. After winning the 2017 “Music Big Kid” competition hosted by Emperor Entertainment Group, Catherine Wong In was signed by Sony Music Entertainment Hong Kong and released her debut studio album 黃妍說 on 2 August 2019, which included the four‑language singles "How to Survive Summers" and "Lost Smile". The following month she staged her first solo concert, 黃妍說音樂會, at the Kowloon Bay International Expo Centre. In 2021, she issued 九道痕跡 and produced chart‑topping tracks such as "Before Dawn" and "Lighten Up", the latter securing the silver award for Female Artist at the 2021 Commercial Radio Hong Kong Top 10 Awards. Her 2023 live album Blooming Underwater Live 2023 and the concept EP 4891 showcased literary inspirations, while the single "日光漂白" earned a nomination for Best Original Film Song at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2024, Catherine Wong In broadened her repertoire with the THE FIRST TAKE collaboration "藝術 與 科學" and the single "黃言". In 2026, she released the album Sing Along with Her, featuring songs like "派對後派對" and "告白前先看天氣預報".
