Casey Dienel

Casey Dienel, born on March 10, 1985, in Scituate, Massachusetts, is an American musician known for their roles as a singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist, and keyboard player. Dienel began playing the piano at age four and started writing pop songs at fourteen. Their debut album, Wind-Up Canary, was released on March 14, 2006, by Hush Records following an unexpected offer from label head Chad Crouch after recordings made during a conservatory break were leaked. Dienel then adopted the moniker White Hinterland and released their first album under this name, Phylactery Factory, on March 3, 2008, via Dead Oceans. Subsequent releases included Kairos (March 9, 2010), which featured the single "Icarus" used in various media projects including a Revlon commercial and the TV show Pretty Little Liars. Other recordings followed, as White Hinterland or Casey Dienel, including Baby (2014), Imitation of a Woman to Love (2017), and My Heart Is an Outlaw (2025).
