Real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar (born in the Bronx district of New York on October 11, 1992), Cardi B has added her pseudonym to the ranks of America's greatest female rappers thanks to a long series of tracks, collaborations and a number-one debut album in 2018: Invasion of Privacy. The daughter of a Dominican father and a Trinidadian mother, she experienced a tumultuous youth of gangs, odd jobs and domestic violence before emancipating herself. After a period in striptease to pay for her studies, in 2015 she took part in the Love & Hip-Hop show, while feeding her social networking accounts where she is very popular. A year later, rapper Popcaan gave her a chance on his cover of Shaggy's "Boom Boom ", before the release of her first solo single "Cheap Ass Wave", followed by the mixtape Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1. From the outset, the provocative tone that would accompany her success was set. Signed by major label Atlantic Records, which paid her a multimillion-dollar advance, Cardi B became in September 2017, twenty years after Lauryn Hill, the second female rapper in history to be ranked number one on the Billboard all-category sales chart thanks to the track "Bodak Yellow". Through her two collaborations with G-Eazy on "No Limit" and Migos on "MotorSport", she becomes the first singer to rank her first three singles in the top ten. Also featured on the duet "Bartier Cardi" with 21 Savage and the remix of Bruno Mars' "Finesse ", Cardi B adds two tracks to this record and releases her debut album Invasion of Privacy on April 6, 2018. Ranking #1 in the US and Canada, #5 in the UK, it is a global success, extended by the success of the single "I Like It" (#1), featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin. Collaborations include Chance the Rapper, Kehlani, YG and Migos, which includes her husband Offset. On July 10, she gives birth to a daughter named Kulture, after new singles with Jennifer Lopez ("Dinero") and Maroon 5 ("Girls Like You"). In February 2019, Invasion of Privacy becomes the first Grammy Award-winning album by a female rapper. In September 2025, she released Am I the Drama? her second studio album, buoyed by tracks like "Outside" and "Imaginary Playerz", and marked by collaborations with Janet Jackson, Selena Gomez, Kehlani and Lizzo.
