Budapest Strings

Budapest Strings Chamber Orchestra, a professional Hungarian orchestra, was founded in 1977 by graduates of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Initially a septet, the ensemble evolved into a sixteen-person string orchestra and won first prize at the International Chamber Orchestra Competition in Belgrade in 1982. Since 1983, they have performed regularly in Hungary's most important concert halls. They founded the International Haydn Festival in Fertőd in 1995 and have collaborated with soloists like Peter Frankl and Johanna Beisteiner. The orchestra has recorded numerous albums for labels including Hungaroton and Naxos Records.
