Bruckner Orchester Linz

The Bruckner Orchestra Linz, named after Anton Bruckner, is an Austrian orchestra based in Linz. Established as the Linz Theater Orchestra, it was renamed to the Bruckner Orchestra Linz in 1967 under conductor Kurt Wöss. The orchestra has served as the concert orchestra for Upper Austria and the opera orchestra at the Landestheater Linz. Under Dennis Russell Davies' tenure from 2002 to 2017, the orchestra expanded its repertoire to include works by Philip Glass, notably premiering his Symphony No. 8. Markus Poschner succeeded Davies as chief conductor in 2017 and concluded his tenure at the end of the 2026-2027 season. The orchestra has recorded Bruckner symphonies for labels like Arte Nova and several albums of Philip Glass' music. In 2025, Christoph Koncz was announced as the next chief conductor, effective from the 2027-2028 season.
