Brigid Mae Power, born in London to Irish parents, moved to Ireland at age eleven. She learned to play the button accordion and later took up singing and piano as a teenager. Power began her music career under the name Brigid Power-Ryce with the release of her debut EP You Are Here in 2010. After meeting American musician Peter Broderick, she traveled to his studio in Portland, Oregon, to record her debut studio album. This led to a two-album deal with Tompkins Square Records and the release of Brigid Mae Power (2016), which received critical acclaim from outlets such as Pitchfork and The Guardian. Her second studio album, The Two Worlds (2018), also garnered widespread praise. In 2023, she released her fourth LP, Dream from the Deep Well, which entered the UK Official Folk Albums Chart at number 10.
