Country singer-songwriter Brett Young (born Anaheim, California, March 23, 1981) began his sporting career in baseball before turning to music after an elbow injury. Asked to fill in for a defection during a high school concert, he began writing his own songs in 2007 for a first self-produced EP, followed in 2011 by Make Believe, and then a series of confidential albums: Brett Young, On Fire and Broken Dreams (2012-2013). After eight years performing on the Los Angeles club circuit, he moved to Nashville to try his luck, signing with local country and pop powerhouse Big Machine in August 2015. His new namesake EP released the following year unveils the Billboard chart-topping tracks "Sleep Without You", "In Case You Didn't Know" and "Like I Loved You". His vocal style, somewhere between contemporary country and pop, appealed to a wide audience, who gave a standing ovation to the album Brett Young (2017), produced by Dann Huff. Ranked #2 on the country album chart and #18 on the Billboard 200, this album of new beginnings is certified platinum and followed by a group tour. Back in the studio with the same producer and a team of studio musicians, Brett Young emerges with the album Ticket to L.A. (2018), from which the hits "Here Tonight" and "Catch" are taken, while on "Chapters" he invites his idol Gavin DeGraw to sing and play piano. In 2020, the title track "Lady" was released, before the following year's Weekends Look Like a Little Different Today album, also represented by the singles "Not Yet" and the gold disc "You Didn't" (#63 on the country charts). The release of Brett Young & Friends Sing the Christmas Classics in late 2021 was followed in August 2023 byAcross the Sheets, featuring the hit single "Dance with You", and in 2025 by "Drink with You", the first single from the follow-up album 2.0.
