Bobo Wê

Bobo Wê, whose real name is Baudouin Emmanuel Hounhalide, is a Beninese artist born on November 23, 1998. Introduced to folk music as a child by his singer mother, he developed a passion for percussion and was introduced to rap in 2015 with the group Laweek Team. After the group disbanded, he refined his style and created his own musical concept: "Gangan Trap", fusing hip-hop and traditional Beninese percussion. His talent exploded in 2019 with a viral video on YouTube, then in 2020 with the single "La rue", which exceeded 25,000 views in 24 hours. His originality and closeness to his fans propelled his career, enabling him to collaborate with Axel Merryl and Togbè Yéton on the tracks "Pi Pan" and "Gbaviomin". In 2021, he won the "Best Artist of the Year" and "Best Rap Single" awards at the Titanium Music Awards, as well as the "Best Emerging Artist" trophy at the Bénin Top 10. Innovative and rooted in Beninese culture, Bobo Wê has established himself as a key figure in contemporary African rap.
