Blog 27 was a Polish musical group formed in 2005 by teenage vocalists Tola Szlagowska and Alicja "Ala" Boratyn. The duo named their band after their shared birth date, November 27, 1992, and interest in blogging. Their debut single, a cover of Alexia's "Uh La La La", achieved success in Poland in the summer of 2005. This was followed by another hit cover, "Hey Boy (Get Your Ass Up)", originally performed by Swedish group Teddybears. Their debut album, LOL, released on their 13th birthday in November 2005, peaked at Number 2 on the Polish albums chart and received double platinum certification. The album included three internationally charting singles: "Uh La La La", "Hey Boy (Get Your Ass Up)", and "Wid Out Ya". In October 2006, Alicja "Ala" Boratyn left Blog 27 due to personal and creative differences. Tola Szlagowska continued with new band members, including her brother Jan Szlagowski on drums. The group won the award for Best Polish Act at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards and received the European Border Breakers Award in 2007. Their second studio album, Before I'll Die..., was released in April 2008 and reached Number 3 in Poland, certified gold. Tola Szlagowska later moved to Los Angeles to pursue a degree in music, marking the end of Blog 27's activity. The band sold over 250,000 records worldwide and is recognized as a forerunner of the emo fashion trend in Poland.
