Black Map

American alternative rock band with a post-hardcore bent, Black Map (or BL∀CK MAP in stylized spelling) was born in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2013. Taking advantage of a break from their respective bands, Ben Flanagan (bass, vocals) of The Trophy Fire, Mark Engles (guitar) of Dredg and Chris Robyn (drums) of Far, reunited to combine their styles on the Driver EP released in 2014. The experiment proved conclusive and a debut album, ...And We Explode, followed the same year on Minus Head Records. The trio then signed with eOne (MNRK Music Group) to produce their second album In Droves (2017). Black Map is not just a studio band, as it performs live and has toured with their counterparts from Chevelle, Bush or Circa Survive. Produced by Zach Ohren and mixed by Beau Burchell of the band Saosin, the third album Melodoria was released in 2022 and led to further touring, before signing with Finnish label Spinefarm Records for the next, Hex, released in 2025.
