Bickram Ghosh

Bickram Ghosh, born on October 20, 1966, in Kolkata, India, is a tabla player. He received early training from his father, Shankar Ghosh, and later from S. Sekhar. Bickram Ghosh's career began with collaborations in classical Indian music, working with notable artists such as Ali Akbar Khan, Amjad Ali Khan, and Shivkumar Sharma. He served as a regular accompanist for Ravi Shankar for over ten years. In 2001, he formed the group Rhythmscape, which celebrated its tenth anniversary with concerts in Kolkata and Mumbai featuring American percussionist Greg Ellis. Their album Transformation won the Indian Recording Arts Award for Best Fusion Album in 2012. Bickram Ghosh also directed music on forty-five films, including Jal. He released more than 200 albums and received four Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA).
