Betty Garrett was an American singer, actress, and dancer born in the United States in 1919. Garrett began a professional career in 1938 and made a Broadway debut in the revue Of V We Sing (1942). They received critical recognition for the role in Call Me Mister (1946), in which they performed the song âSouth America Take It Awayâ (1946). Signed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Garrett made a film debut in Big City (1948) and appeared in musicals including Words and Music (1948) and On the Town (1949). Their discography includes the recording Betty Garrett and Other Songs (1974) and performances in the revival of Follies (2001). Garrett performed on Broadway until 2007. They died in 2011.
