Bébé Manga

Elizabeth Bessem Ayamo Manga, known as Bébé Manga, was born on November 27, 1948, in Mamfe, Cameroon. She started her music career in 1975 at "Son de Guitare" nightclub in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Her breakthrough came in 1980 with "Amio", a cover of Ebanda Manfred’s "Amie" which earned her the prestigious "Maracas D'or" award from SACEM. Throughout her career, Manga performed extensively across Africa and released several albums including Ami - Oyomiya (1982) and Temps Futur (2000). She collaborated with notable artists such as Manu Dibango. Bébé Manga passed away on July 1, 2011, following a heart attack at her home in Douala.
