Beam vs. Cyrus was a German electronic music group consisting of Michael Urgacz, known as DJ Beam, and Cyrus Sadeghi-Wafa, known as DJ Cyrus. Born in 1975 in Teheran, Iran, Sadeghi-Wafa moved to Germany with his parents in 1980. He began producing music on an Amiga 500, releasing his first self-produced EP Cyrus - Upstart EP in 1995. The following year, he collaborated with The Joker on the track "Moonlight", featuring vocals from Nino de Angelo. In 1998, Beam vs. Cyrus gained attention with their club hit "Milky Way", which caught the eye of A&R manager Michael Urgacz (DJ Beam). Together, they released their debut single "Launch in Progress" in 1999, reaching number 63 on the German Single Charts. The duo's breakthrough came with the release of "U Can't Touch This" in 2003, a cover of MC Hammer's hit, which peaked at number 22 in Germany. Throughout their career, Beam vs. Cyrus released several albums and singles, including Lifestyle (2001), "Take This Sound (Out Of My Head)" (2004), "Thunder in Paradise" (2000), and "U Can't Touch This" (2003). They also produced notable remixes for artists such as Cosmic Gate, Airscape, and Lange. Michael Urgacz passed away in 2022.
