Real name Oluwakayode Junior Balogun, Barry Jhay is a Nigerian afrobeats singer born in Ibadan on February 13, 1993. Descended from a line of musicians including his grandfather I. K. Dairo and his father Sikiru Ololade Ayinde Barrister, masters of the juju style and creators of fuji music respectively, Barry Jhay grew up in Lagos and began recording as a child. Moving towards a more pop genre, afrobeats, the musician released his first single "Aiye" in 2018, which met with some local success, before the release of the album Barry Back (2020), featuring a duet with Davido. Signed by the Cash Nation Entertainment label, the singer is raising his profile with collaborations with Bad Boy Timz, Rhaman Jago, Lyta and Jawton. His knowledge of studios since childhood has made him an astute sound engineer and producer. Winner of the City People Music Awards (2018) and The Headies (2019), he continued his career with the tracks "O Ga Ra" (2019), "Muje" and "Japa " (2020). In 2025, he released his second album Barrystar Vol. 1, featuring the hit "The Lord's Prayer" .
