Since her debut in 1960, little cabaret singer Barbra Streisand (born in New York on April 24, 1942) has become one of the biggest stars of popular song. A nine-time Grammy Award winner, she is the best-selling female artist of all time. Her long and varied career includes appearances in the musicals Hello Dolly! (1969) and A Star is Born, which won her an Oscar in 1976, as well as major roles in the films What's Up, Doc? (1972) and Yentl (1983). Her landmark albums include 1963's The Barbra Streisand Album, 1971's Stoney End and Barbra Joan Streisand, and duet recordings with Kris Kristofferson(A Star Is Born, 1976) and Barry Gibb(Guilty, 1980). A performer well-versed in the traditional repertoire, she also enjoyed covering film and musical comedy classics, as on The Broadway Album (1985). She continues to record and perform at prestigious galas, releasing the albums Guilty Pleasures (again with Barry Gibb, 2005) and Love is the Answer (2009). Three years later, the Release Me compilation featured previously unreleased material. Back in 2014, she forms new duets with Michael Bublé, John Legend, Lionel Richie and others on the album Partners, before a return to musical comedy themes, with actor duets, for Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway (2016).
