Barbara Jean Morehead, known professionally as Barbara Eden, was born on August 23, 1931, in Tucson, Arizona. She began her career as a singer, performing in local bands and studying singing and acting from a young age. In 1955, she started her television career with appearances on The Johnny Carson Show. Barbara Eden's breakthrough role came in 1965 when she was cast as the title character in the sitcom I Dream of Jeannie, which ran until 1970. Throughout her career, Barbara Eden also appeared in various films, including Flaming Star (1960) opposite Elvis Presley and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961). In addition to her acting roles, she released an album titled Miss Barbara Eden.
