Formed in 2008 in Capim Grosso, Bahia, Banda Djavú emerged as one of Brazil’s most recognizable names in tecnobrega by fusing electronic beats with regional rhythms like forró and calypso. Founded by vocalist Geandson Rios alongside Nádila Freire and DJ Juninho Portugal, the group gained national attention with the release of their debut album O Furacão é Show and the singles “Não Desligue o Telefone” and “Me Libera (O Que Pensa Que Eu Sou),” which became staples of Brazilian pop culture. Their track “Nave do Amor” was featured in the telenovela Bela, a Feia, helping to further expand their reach. Known for their energetic live shows with choreographed dancers and a blend of traditional and electronic instrumentation, Banda Djavú faced lineup changes beginning in 2010 but continued releasing albums like 5 Anos de Sucesso (2013), Na Pegada do Piseiro (2020), and 16 Anos de Sucesso! (2023). Despite legal battles over the band name and multiple spin-off projects by former members, Geandson Rios continues leading the group with singer Keytte Moreno. Their ongoing influence in the tecnobrega genre is marked by a steady stream of singles such as “Assina Aí” and “Daqui pra Frente,” maintaining their fanbase well into 2025.
