Balla et ses Balladins, also known as Orchestre du Jardin de Guinée, was a dance-music orchestra formed in Conakry, Guinea, in 1962. Led by trumpet player Balla Onivogui, the group emerged following the break-up of Syli Orchestre National and became one of the first modern dance musical groups in Guinea to fuse traditional folk music with contemporary influences. They made numerous recordings for the state-owned Syliphone label and held a residency at the Conakry nightspot Jardin de Guinée. The group also toured abroad, representing Guinea. Notable releases include Objectif Perfection (1980) and compilations such as The Syliphone Years (2008). Balla Onivogui passed away on March 15, 2011, at the age of 75.
