Balcones Fault

Balcones Fault was a comedic Dixieland jazz band from Austin, Texas, active in the 1970s. The group took its name from the Balcones Fault zone in southwest-central Texas and quickly gained local recognition for their unique blend of humor and music. They began performing at notable venues such as the Armadillo World Headquarters and made a significant breakthrough with their appearance on the first season of Austin City Limits in 1976. The following year, Balcones Fault released their sole album, It's All Balcones Fault, on the Cream label. The album title was inspired by a Dallas radio show script written by Peter Nye, who played trombone with the band in 1975. Despite their brief career, Balcones Fault left a notable mark on the Austin music scene and contributed to its vibrant cultural landscape.
