He began his music career in 1976 with live performances at underground clubs, establishing himself as a solo folk-rock musician. His breakthrough came in 1978 when he became the vocalist and guitarist for the folk-pop duo 물ë ë°©ì, which significantly expanded his reach and influence. Baeg Yeong Kyu's solo debut album, ë°±ìê· (also known as 물ë ë°©ìììë¡ë°ë·°ìí), was released on June 20, 1979. Throughout his career, Baeg Yeong Kyu has released numerous albums that have solidified his status in South Korean folk music. Notable releases include ë°±ìê· ëí곡모ì (1991), His Golden Best (2006-06-22) and ì íì (2016-10-06). His album ì¹êµ¬ì¼ 미ìí´ was released in 2022, showcasing his enduring creativity and relevance in the music industry. Among his many singles, "ìë§ ê·¸ë¦¬ìì" (2016) and "ëì²ë ìë " (2024) stand out as particularly impactful tracks. Baeg Yeong Kyu won the MBC Top 10 Singers Song Festival's Rookie of the Year Award in 1980, marking a significant milestone in his career.
