Bad Gyal

Bad Gyal, the stage name of Alba Farelo, is a Catalan singer born on March 7, 1997, in Vilassar de Mar, near Barcelona. She first drew attention in 2016 with “Pai,” a Catalan-language rework of Rihanna’s “Work,” and quickly defined a sound that mixed dancehall, reggaeton, electronic club music, and pop. Early singles such as “Fiebre,” “Indapanden,” and “Jacaranda” helped establish her as one of Spain’s most distinctive urban voices, while her use of Catalan, Spanish, English, and Caribbean-inflected phrasing gave her music a cross-border identity. In 2018, she released the mixtape Worldwide Angel, working with producers including Dubbel Dutch, Jam City, El Guincho, and Fakeguido. After signing with Interscope Records in 2019, Bad Gyal entered a more international phase with platinum-certified singles including “Santa María” with Busy Signal, “Hookah,” and “Zorra.” Her 2021 project Warm Up reached number 5 in Spain and included “Flow 2000,” followed later that year by Sound System: The Final Releases, a short EP built from long-awaited fan favorites and collaborations with producers including El Guincho, Ricky Blaze, Supa Dups, DJ Nelson, Scott Storch, Arkey-O, and SickDrumz. After singles such as “Real G” with Quevedo, “Chulo” with Tokischa and Young Miko, and “Mi Lova” with Myke Towers, she released her debut studio album, La Joia, in 2024 via Universal Latino and Interscope. The album featured Anitta, Tommy Lee Sparta, Ñengo Flow, Morad, Quevedo, and others, reached number one in Spain, and was certified Gold in Spain and the United States. Its long rollout was also documented in La Joia: Bad Gyal, a 2024 film directed by David Camarero and later released on Prime Video. In 2025, Bad Gyal returned with singles including “Da Me,” “Comernos,” “Angelito” with Trueno, “Última Noche” with Ozuna, and “Fuma.” She followed in 2026 with “Choque” with Chencho Corleone and her second studio album, Más Cara, a 19-track project that connected reggaeton and R&B with dancehall, merengue house, guaracha, Jamaican shatta, and Haitian kompa. She supported the album with the Más Cara tour and appeared as a surprise guest during Bad Bunny’s Barcelona stadium show, performing “Yo Perreo Sola” with him before singing “Da Me.”
