Baby Rasta & Gringo are a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo formed in 1994 in Las Monjas, Hato Rey (San Juan), made up of Wilmer Alicea (Baby Rasta) and Samuel Gerena (Gringo). Starting out as the Eazy Boyz, they surfaced in the 1990sâ underground circuit through appearances tied to DJ Negroâs The Noise projects, then pushed their own identity with New Prophecy (1998) and the Romances del Ruido series (2000â2002). They documented their early momentum with Live Desde El Mas Allá (1997) and later Fire Live (2003), a period when they became known for sharp, confrontational diss records aimed at rivals across the scene. Their first studio album, Sentenciados (2004), arrived as tensions between the two escalated into a split that lasted several years; they reunited for The Comeback (2008). After returning to regular activity, they re-entered the mainstream conversation with Los Cotizados (2015), packed with high-profile guests including Alexis & Fido, Tito El Bambino, Farruko, Wisin, Nicky Jam, and Divino, and anchored by tracks like âUn Beso.â In the 2020s they kept the catalog moving with The Hunting (2023) and El Final (2025), extending a career defined by hardcore barrio energy, punchline-heavy duet chemistry, and a long-running presence on the reggaeton timeline.
