Aysanabee

Aysanabee is the stage name of Toronto-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer Evan Pang, who combines folk, pop, and rock music with a powerful message inspired by his Indigenous roots. Born into an Oji-Cree family, he grew up in Kamnistiquia, Thunder Bay, and taught himself how to play guitar and write songs. Even though he played in several music projects, he decided to launch his solo career after suffering a near-death experience while working for a mining company in Northern Ontario. Soon after, he relocated to Toronto to pursue a career in music. He was discovered by the Indigenous label Ishkōdé Records during the third annual International Indigenous Music Summit and made his official debut with the singles "Howling" and "Ocean Breath" in 2021. A year later, his single "Nomads" reached number 49 on the Canadian rock chart, followed by "Ego Death" a few months later. Both tracks were included in Aysanabee's studio debut Watin, released in November 2022. Following the release of a deluxe edition in March 2023, Aysanabee unveiled the EP Here and Now, which was preceded by the singles "Somebody Else," "Alone," and "Waste My Time." The extended play earned him a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year in 2024. That year, he collaborated with LA-based singer-songwriter Raye Zaragoza on the song "Come Out."
