Born to Albanian parents in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on February 16, 1994, Amanda Ava Koci aka Ava Max was revealed in summer 2018 with the track "Sweet But Psycho". Her singing career began with a collaboration with producer Le Youth for the track "Clap Your Hands" (2017). Signed by the Atlantic label, she then recorded her first tracks, "My Way" and the duet "Slippin'" with rapper Gashi, before hitting the sales charts worldwide with "Sweet But Psycho", number one in twenty-two countries including the UK and number 10 in the USA. That same year, she sang on Witt Lowry's "Into Your Arms", David Guetta's "Let It Be Me" and Vice and Jason Derulo's "Make Up". Her second personal hit, "So Am I" (2019), ranked #13 in the UK, finds its way into the global charts alongside the duet "Tabu" with Pablo Alboran and "Alone, Pt. II" for Alan Walker. The following year saw the release of four new tracks: "Kings & Queens" (No. 19), "Who's Laughing Now" (No. 93), "OMG What's Happening" (unrated) and "Naked", included on her debut album Heaven & Hell, released in September 2020 and ranked No. 2 in the UK and No. 27 on the Billboard 200. The album, a compilation of her previous hits, includes "My Head & My Heart", which reaches no. 18 in the UK and no. 45 in the US. The following year saw the release of the previously unreleased "Everytime I Cry" (No. 99), before the singer appeared on R3hab and Jonas Blue's "Sad Boy" and Dutch DJ Tiƫsto's "The Motto". 2022 saw the release of "Maybe You're the Problem" (no. 83), "Million Dollar Baby" (charted everywhere except the UK) and "Weapons", heralding the album Diamonds & Dancefloors (2023), charted at no. 34 on the Billboard 200 and no. 11 in the UK. The same year, "Choose Your Fighter" appeared on the Barbie movie soundtrack and preceded collaborations with Kygo on "Whatever" and David Guetta and Alphaville on a cover of the 80's hit "Forever Young". 2025 saw the release of the singles "Lost Your Faith", "Lovin Myself" and "Wet, Hot American Dream", from the album Don't Click Play.
