Atlantic Ocean

Atlantic Ocean was a Dutch electronic music duo comprising Lex van Coeverden and Rene van der Weyde. The group formed in 1967 and disbanded in 1970, with their most notable work occurring in the mid-1990s. Their breakthrough came with the release of "Waterfall" in 1993, which was included on several Ministry of Sound compilation albums. The single reached Number 22 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1994 and peaked at Number 21 in November 1996 with a remixed version. Atlantic Ocean released several EPs, including Lorelei, Pegasus, Set You Free and Trance-Atlantis. The duo's discography includes the singles "Music Is a Passion" (1994), "Body In Motion" (1994), The Cycle of Life (1997) and "Waterfall 2002" (2002). The group's work has been remixed by several artists, including ATB, Woody Van Eyden, Peter Parker, Dave Moreaux and Dennis Quin. Ben Liebrand was responsible for making the 3D-animated videoclip for "Trance-Atlantis". Atlantic Ocean's music gained significant traction in the UK, with five of their singles charting on the UK Singles Chart in the 1990s. The duo also had a notable influence on other artists, as evidenced by Lemon Jelly sampling "Waterfall" for their track "Don't Stop Now" from the album '64-'95. Despite their disbandment, Atlantic Ocean's impact on the electronic music scene remains evident through their enduring popularity and the continued recognition of their work.
