ASP

Alexander „Asp“ Spreng was born on 19 March 1972 in Germany and founded the band ASP in 1999 with guitarist Matthias Ambré. After early demo recordings in a rented apartment, the duo attracted the attention of Trisol, who signed them and released their debut album Hast Du mich vermisst? in 2000. The single "Wer sonst?" followed in 2009, marking the band’s first charting release. ASP continued to issue concept albums such as Duett (2001), Weltunter (2003), and Aus der Tiefe (2005), while expanding their lineup with drummer Oliver Himmighoffen and bassist Andreas Gross. The band toured extensively across Europe, performing at festivals like Wave‑Gotik‑Treffen and M’era Luna, and collaborated with artists such as L’Âme Immortelle and Chamber. In 2011, ASP released Fremd after the departure of guitarist Ambré, and later albums Verfallen – Folge 1: Astoria (2015) and Zutiefst (2017) continued the narrative style that defined their work. ASP’s releases earned positions in the German Top 40, and the band received recognition within the gothic and metal scenes for their literary approach. The group remained active until 2021, when bassist Andreas Gross left.
