Artemis

Founded in 2017 by pianist and composer Renee Rosnes, Artemis is a multi-national jazz supergroup comprised of seven acclaimed female musicians. The group originally featured Rosnes joined by Allison Miller (drums), Noriko Ueda (bass), Ingrid Jensen (trumpet), Anat Cohen (clarinet), Melissa Aldana (tenor sax), and Cécile McLorin Salvant (vocals). With members hailing from the US, Canada, Japan, Israel, Chile, and France, the group’s members were well-known for their original compositions and improvisational skills. After an acclaimed Newport Jazz Festival appearance in 2018, they were signed to the Blue Note Records label by Don Was and began a busy touring schedule while also working on their debut album. Artemis played prestigious venues around the world while also earning plenty of attention from the press. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2020 to great acclaim and brought the group to the attention of an even larger audience. Before the release of their next album, Melissa Aldana and Anat Cohen left Artemis and were replaced by saxophonists Alexa Tarrantino and Nicole Glover. In My 2023, Artemis released their sophomore album, In Real Time, which was greeted with positive reviews.
