Art School Girlfriend

Polly Louise Mackey, born 15 March 1991 in Clwyd, Wrexham, is a Welsh singer, songwriter, guitarist and electronic producer known professionally as Art School Girlfriend. After leading the shoegaze band Deaf Club and releasing the EP Lull in 2011, she launched her solo career in 2016, recording the debut EP Measures for Wolf Tone in September 2017, followed by the single "Bending Back". Her first studio album, Is It Light Where You Are, arrived on 10 September 2021, supported by a UK tour that concluded at Village Underground. Subsequent releases include Is It Dark Where You Are (2022), Soft Landing (4 August 2023) and Lean In (11 March 2026). Notable collaborations feature Marika Hackman, Tony Njoku, and Ghostpoet, while her work has earned airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music and appearances at SXSW, Latitude and Green Man festivals.
