Amy Macdonald

Revealed in 2007, Amy Macdonald (born near Glasgow, Scotland, August 25, 1987) has quickly become a leading British pop and rock artist. A singer-songwriter, she performed her own songs in local pubs before being spotted by a local label, then Universal subsidiary Mercury, who signed her and released her debut album, This Is the Life, in 2008, the title track of which became an international hit. Two years later, the singer, who had specialized in folk repertoire, renewed her inspiration with the following album, A Curious Thing. In 2012, she continued in a pop and rock vein with her third album, Life in a Beautiful Light, while its predecessor was released in an orchestral version (A Curious Thing: Special Orchestral Edition). The fourth album arrived in 2017, with the singles "Dream On" and "Automatic". It was followed by a compilation, Woman of the World 2007-2018, accompanied by an unreleased title of the same name. In 2020, inspired by the Covid-19 epidemic and social distancing measures, the singer released "A Piece of My Heart". This preceded the recording session for her new studio album The Humand Demands, represented by the singles "The Hudson" and "Crazy Shade of Bue". In 2021, Amy Macdonald represents Scotland at the Free European Song Contest in Cologne, with the track "Statues", which finishes in 4th place. The singer went on to host her own Life Tracks show on BBC Radio Scotland, and toured with the release of the Don't Tell Me That It's Over EP (2022), which included three re-recorded songs. Their first original single in four years, "Is This What You've Been Waiting For?", is released in April 2025, heralding the release of the album of the same name in July.
