Amber Asylum, a San Francisco-based music group, was founded by composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Kris Force. Their debut album, Frozen in Amber, was released in 1996 through Elfenblut/Misanthropy Records. The group's sound blended classical, electronic, folk, and rock elements with a dark ambient aesthetic. Notable releases include The Natural Philosophy of Love (1997) on Relapse Records, Songs of Sex and Death (1999), Still Point (2007) on Profound Lore Records, and Bitter River (2009). Their music is known for its romantic, introspective themes, with violin and cello as dominant instruments. In 2015, they released Anthology (1995-2015) and Sin Eater, both through Prophecy Productions.
