AMA, born Ama Louisa John on 9 May 1998 in London, United Kingdom, is a singer and songwriter who began writing music at age eleven and received classical vocal training. She released her debut single "TBC" in 2016, followed by "Not Always" and "Said It Already" the same year, establishing her presence on the UK R&B scene. In 2019, she released the EP Ama under Interscope Records, and in 2022 followed with AT LEAST WE HAVE THIS. Her singles "Lost My Home" (2017) and "DDD" (2018) received critical attention, and she toured as a support act for Jorja Smith in 2018. The notable "Need it Bad" single was released in 2026, featuring Brent Faiyaz. AMAâs work has been noted for its soulful lyricism and has contributed to contemporary British R&B without chartâtopping accolades.
