Formed in 2004 as a follow-up to Creed, Alter Bridge's metal is more aggressive than that of the band from which it sprang. 2004's Only Day Remains and 2007's Blackbird are prime examples. 2010 sees the release of a third, more introspective album, Alter Bridge III or AB III. After the decent Live at Wembley: European Tour 2011 in 2012, Alter Bridge set out to storm Fortress in September 2013 and play The Last Hero in October 2016. The latter is their first effort to reach the top 10 of the Billboard 200, and is followed by a live album, Live at the O2 Arena + Rarities, featuring previously unreleased tracks from the recording sessions of the previous albums. Then, in 2019, alongside the announcement of a UK tour alongside Shinedown, Sevendust and The Raven Age, the band unveils a new studio album, Walk the Sky, heralded as carrying a new musical direction with more synthetic arrangements.
