Aline Lahoud

Born on March 2, 1981, Aline Lahoud grew up in Beirut, the Lebanese capital. Daughter of producer Nahi Lahoud and singer Salwa Al Katrib, her parents' professions naturally led her towards music and the performing arts. She took part in and appeared in short films, then won the Fidof prize in 2014, which narrowly missed opening the door to Eurovision 2005, after Lebanon chose not to take part. Nevertheless, this initial media exposure enabled her to win the Trophée International Charles Trenet de la Francophonie in Deauville in 2005 and the Murex d'or du nouveau talent in Lebanon the same year. After recording her first album, 11 heures et quart (2005), Aline Lahoud demonstrates her desire to reconcile Arab musical cultures and the French-speaking world. She pursued her artistic career on stage, notably in musicals, with roles in Jawharat al Aalam (2008), Opera village (2009) and Ard el ghajar (2012), and then made a name for herself with her mastery of eight foreign languages. In 2014, her reputation grew in France when she took part in The Voice. Her performance of one of her mother's songs won over the four coaches and enabled her to work alongside Florent Pagny. Despite her defeat, her many hats in the cultural industry enable her to maintain her public appearances and glean awards, such as the Murex d'or for Best Theatre Actress in 2012, the MEMA Awards for Talent of the Year in 2014 and the Akkar Youth Trophy in 2015.
